This entry is going to serve as my starting point for my new uni module, as well as a visual presentation to go along with my initial pitch.
My idea has come about because of a lot of the feedback I have received over the past year. I am really interested in character concept design, and a main point from my feedback that has stuck in my mind is that my style is too derivative. So for the purpose of this project I really want to work on developing a character style that is more individual and appealing, but also animatable as I always have trouble with my designs being too detailed. I would also, if possible, like to test how animatable my designs are with a few small tests. This would also help me to work on the ability to keep characters consistent on model, something which I struggled with in the film project we just did.
I also developed an interest in background design for animation during the last project so I am interested in working on that too. I want to be able to create backgrounds in a style consistent with the characters and also work on my drawing skills in the process.
So to summarise:
For this project I chose an idea I have had for a while but only started thinking about developing recently. The idea is for an interactive online game, much like "Neopets," where players can adopt little animals as pets and do various things with them such as play games, breed them, feed them etc.
The idea came about several years ago when a friend and I tried to see how many combinations we could make using the names of animals and various fruits and vegetables. I then decided to start drawing designs of some of them. Below are some icons that represent some of the designs I have so far:
I also started to design some humanoid characters to "run" the whole thing and the setting as well.
Finally, I created a moodboard of styles, techniques, costumes and silhouettes that I might use for inspiration in developing these designs.

- Test the characters' animation potential with a few small line-tests. Also use these to improve my ability to keep thinks on model and consistent.
